The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intensified its efforts to curb international drug trafficking networks, with a series of recent busts revealing ingenious methods of smuggling drugs across borders.
In one such operation, NDLEA officers intercepted cocaine, cannabis, and tramadol hidden within innocuous items like body cream containers and artwork.
These drug-laden products were set for export to countries including Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates through courier services in Lagos.
These hidden consignments, weighing nearly 3 kilograms, showcase a worrying trend in the sophistication of smuggling techniques that conceal illegal substances within everyday items.
The NDLEA’s vigilance, aided by their Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI), has prevented these dangerous drugs from reaching foreign markets.
These seizures, alongside additional operations at Apapa Seaport, where 754,000 pills of tramadol were seized, highlight the agency’s all-encompassing approach to halting the drug trade in Nigeria.
NDLEA’s leadership commended their operatives for these decisive actions, reaffirming their commitment to tackling drug trafficking and supporting ongoing education efforts against substance abuse across Nigeria.
