In an unexpected development, the Dangote Group has announced its decision to withdraw its ₦100bn lawsuit against the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) over import licenses granted to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Matrix Petroleum Services Limited, A.A. Rano Limited, and four other companies, despite the availability of locally produced petroleum products.
In a statement issued late Monday, the Dangote Group clarified that the lawsuit, filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja on September 6, 2024, is now considered “an old issue,” with recent events rendering the suit irrelevant.
Group spokesman Anthony Chiejina confirmed that conciliatory discussions have begun between the parties involved, and there are no plans to continue with the litigation.
