Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) marked the 2024 Children’s Day with an array of events, including a parade, a quiz contest, and various engaging activities.
The celebration brought together young leaders from schools across the LCDA, highlighting the importance of this special day dedicated to honoring the joy and potential of children.
Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, the Executive Chairman of the LCDA addressed the gathering with a heartfelt message.
She underscored the significance of Children’s Day as an occasion to celebrate the innocence, creativity, and boundless potential that children bring into our lives and society.
“Children’s Day is a time to honor the joy and potential that children bring into our lives. It’s important to recognize the innocence and creativity that define childhood, making it a cherished phase of life,” said Gbadebo-Alogba.
Speaking directly to the children, she encouraged them to see themselves not just as future leaders but as the leaders of today.
She urged them to nurture their aspirations and potential, preparing themselves to excel in all aspects of life.
“You are not just the leaders of tomorrow; you are leaders today. Embrace your roles, nurture your aspirations, and prepare yourselves to excel in every aspect of life,” she advised.
Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba also called upon the community to unite in supporting, protecting, and empowering the children. She emphasized the collective responsibility to provide a safe, loving, and stable environment where children can thrive and reach their full potential.

She extended warm wishes for a Happy Children’s Day to all, expressing hopes for a bright and fulfilling future for the children, guided by divine grace.
Mr. Adejumo Taiwo, the Head of the Education Department in Ijede LCDA, also addressed the children, advising them to pay close attention to their teachers and focus on their studies.
He emphasized that dedication to education is crucial for them to become successful leaders and achieve their goals in life.
