Items purchased at the maiden subsidized Food Bank Market, tagged Senator Oluremi Tinubu Food Bank, held at the Oluwole car park in Lagos Island, included rice, beans, garri, palm oil, eggs, live chickens, semovita, and noodles, while onions, sugar, and pepper were given out for free.

While speaking at the event, Hon. Omolara Oyekan-Olumegbon said that the motive behind the initiative was to provide succor to the people in the wake of the high cost of food items in the country.

The lawmaker, who was very excited about the turnout, said that the initiative was also to complement efforts by the President and Governor Sanwo-Olu in improving the well-being of the people of her constituency.

She described the initiative as a promise fulfilled during her electioneering campaign while vying for the Lagos State House of Assembly seat.

According to her, the subsidized food market hub could not have come at a better time than during the Easter celebrations and the Holy month of Ramadan fast.

She assured the residents of the second phase of the program, adding that those who couldn’t get tickets to purchase the food items at giveaway prices in the maiden edition would benefit next week.

On his part, the APC Chairman in Lagos Island, Alhaji G. O. Sadiq, commended the lawmaker for responding positively to the yearnings of the people in these trying times in the country.

He charged other political appointees and spirited Nigerians to support such interventions in order to restore people’s confidence in the government.

Some of the beneficiaries applauded the gesture of the lawmaker and prayed that God would replenish her purse.
