The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited has affirmed that it has not altered the pump price of premium motor spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, at its retail outlets.
Speculations had emerged suggesting that NNPC had decreased the price of petrol from N568 to N560 per litre, along with reports of an increase in diesel price to N920 per litre.
However, in a statement released on Wednesday and signed by Femi Soneye, NNPC’s spokesperson, the company refuted these claims.
“NNPC Limited wishes to clarify rumors suggesting a price adjustment for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and Automotive Gas Oil (Diesel) at its retail stations nationwide,” the statement asserts.
“The company emphasizes that these reports are inaccurate and urges Nigerians to dismiss them entirely.”
NNPC Ltd also reaffirms its dedication to maintaining the current supply sufficiency of petroleum products across all its retail stations nationwide.
This clarification comes after NNPC’s announcement on February 9, affirming that there would be no increase in the cost of petrol.
