Sterling Bank is facing a scandal involving counterfeit Euros after a customer accused them of paying him fake currency.
The customer, known as LegendaryPapi, took to social media to share his experience.
He stated that he deposited 5000 Euros into his domiciliary account at the Kaduna branch of Sterling Bank on January 24, 2023.
However, when he went to withdraw the money on May 30, 2023, he was informed that the bank did not have the full amount.
LegendaryPapi then went to the main branch to withdraw the remaining 5000 Euros, but was given the money in 500 Euros denomination.
Unfortunately, his friend, who was supposed to help him exchange the Euros for Pounds, discovered that the money was counterfeit.
LegendaryPapi expressed his frustration, calling bankers “armed robbers without guns working in our banking system.”
He pleaded for Sterling Bank to rectify the situation and return his money.
In the meantime, he urged other customers who have foreign currency deposited at Sterling Bank to withdraw their funds.
The story also includes the current exchange rates for Naira against the Euro, Dollar, and British Pound.
