The Tribunal tha sat for 6 months before given its verdict was at the instance of the petition filed by the APC candidate in the election, Hon Babajide Obanikoro and that of the PDP, Bankole Wellington.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Mr Thaddeus Attah of the Labour Party  winner of the election held on February 25th, 2023.

Prof Funmilayo Odukoya, who is the INEC Returning Officer announced that Attah won with 24,075 votes, beating his counterparts, Mr Olubankole Wellington (Banky W) of the Peoples Democratic Party who had 18,666 votes, and Mr Babajide Obanikoro of the APC, who had 16, 901 votes.

In his reaction to the ruling of the Tribunal, Hon Babajide Obanikoro said his expectations were met by the ruling because the election was inconclusive and should have been declared as such on Election Day.

According to him, his lawyers were able to prove irregularities in the conduct of the exercise at the tribunal.

Obanikoro however expressed his readiness to reclaim his mandate adding the people of Eti-Osa identified with his track records during his first four years in the House of Representatives.
