“This suffering is unbearable.”

This has become Nigerians new national anthem. The price of everything in Nigeria is double the normal price(to the extent of pure water). Everyone’s voice is “no be you elect your president”. President Mohammed Buhari, has been in power since 29th May,2015. His administration has been a lesson to Nigerian. We learned how to manage with the little amount we have.

Ekiti 2026: The Symbolic Submission of Governor Oyebanji vs. the Envy-Laden Submission by the Atiku of Ekiti

Further,The presidential election is around the corner, there are a lot of candidates aspiring to be the president. The famous and perhaps likely to win,Bola Amhed Adekunle Tinubu popularly known as Jagaban.Tinubu was a ex governor in Lagos State in 1999 through 2007.

He has been a father figure to Lagosian, why won’t he be a father figure to Nigerian?. During his tenure in Lagos State,he performed well in development projects. To mention a few,he established the LAWMA (Lagos State Waste Management Authority) before his tenure, Lagos was a state known for dirtness. He was also the man who brought in LASTMA( Lagos State Traffic Management Authority) who control traffic girdlock and jam. Jagaban is a trailblazer. According to available information when he became the Governor in 1999,the state was generating 600,000,000 (IGR_Internally Generated Revenue)but shortly after he became Governor,Lagos State started generating Three billion per month with this outcome Tinubu was able to withstand the an ex_president Obansanjo’s withholding of Lagos State Revenue allocation. Tinubu  created extra 37 LCDA to make governance and develop the rural populace despite  the fact that only Federal Government can create LCDA according to the Nigeria constitution. This make Tinubu’s opposition_ Obansanjo to seize the opportunity to punish Tinubu. When Yaradua became president in 2007 the money was released to Fashola’s  government.

Tinubu also play an active role in Education, when he came to power in 1999 he establish schools. Public schools was interested to go even universities,as long you are an indigen you collect bursary has a compensation. Jakande created the enable environment but Tinubu started the development. There are a lot of development in Lagos State that was done by Tinubu; Construction of roads, and also sport. He developed the Stadium like the Tinder Balogun stadium in surulere which was completed by his successor.  On the 23rd January, President Mohammed Buhari was in Lagos State to commission some of landmark project which are brain child of Tinubu.

We know, the man is old but can the young think like the old? Let try not to think we are in the era of “agesim is the new racism.” that what the youth believe. We say “only the old man are president, have you seen a president wife becoming pregnant?” This has become a joke among the youth. My question is, what has the nowadays’YOUTH’ done  for Nigeria that is worth remembering? I am not bad mouthing the Youth but trying to make them reason.  The Yoruba adage says; “Lati owo agba ni omode ma ti ko ogbon.”

I am not an activist or a politician. I do not even have a PVC but if Tinubu becomes the president I see a better Nigeria. Let not jeopardize the future of Nigeria,we have learned in the hard way,do not let us continue learning in the harder way.

Our anthem for 2023 should be “A BETTER NIGERIA RISING!” I urge those who have their PVC should vote and not hide their vote, every vote counts.  Nigerians should come and  vote for the right candidate.
