The councilor representing ward C2 in Ifako Ijaiye local government, Hon. Ibrahim Adenekan has said the youths are major stakeholders in the forthcoming general election.
He said this during the youth town hall meeting and empowerment programme held today at the council secretariat on Friday.
Hon. Ibrahim said it is very glaring that there are enough opportunities for the youths as regards engagement and participation in Nigeria politics, and urged to set their priorities right and mobilize in full force.
He said further that the youths have demonstrated the potentials to build bridges across communities by working together, managing conflicts as well as promoting peace.
“The youths are vital stakeholders in conflict management and peaceful resolution. They can be agents of change and provides a foundation for rebuilding lives and communities vis-a-vis contributing to a just and peaceful society,” he said.
The council chairman, Hon. Usman Hamzat while addressing the mammoth crowd at the event, said the youth needs to place value on themselves as this will make them achieve their set goals.
“We can achieve our dreams if we stay focused and pay attention to what is happening around us. Youths needs not to sit on the fence, ensure you participate in politics so you can get there,” he said.
Hon. Temitope A. Adedeji, representing Ifako Ijaiye constituency 01 in the Lagos State House of Assembly said he was fascinated by the hosts move in engaging the youths as the 2023 general election approaches.
He commended the maiden youth engagement in the local government and promised that more of it come up.
He urged the youths present at the event to ensure that they mobilize towards the forthcoming election and participate actively, adding that’s that the only way they can make the changes they crave.
The 30 Widows, the aged and artisans who were empowered by the host, gave kudos to him for deeming it fit to support them and promised to continue to support his course at all level.
The theme of the event,”Roles of Youth’s in the forthcoming 2023 elections” was anchored by Miss Moremi Ojudu.
