First batch of the Divisional Teacher Training College (DITTCO),Ikirun Osun State old students have slated their inaugural get-together for mid-June this year where they are expected to formally launched the association and possibly elect their first ever executives to run the affairs of the body.
A statement from the interim National Publicity Secretary of the group, Alhaji Razaq Bamidele made available to the media in Lagos Wednessday, informed that, “the public would be informed of the actual date while Ibadan, Capital of Oyo state is the hosting town.
The defunct College was located at the ancient city of Ikirun, then Oyo State but now in the State of Osun.
Members of the 78/81 set were the first set of the 3-year course because the school had been in existence much earlier running a single year programme for School Certificate holders chasing Grade 11 Teacher’s certificate to boost Teaching Profession in primary schools.
The school was located at the dreaded Igbo-Irele (Irele Forest), so named after a yearly festival (Irele Festival), that served as the taking off point for the festival’s worshipers in the town.
The forest to the students then was likened to the Forest of a Thousand Demons courtesy, the late D. O. Fagunwa the author of the famous book, Ogboju Ode Ninu Igbo Irunmole.
Right now, the site of the college houses the Federal Government College, one of the Unity schools in the country.
