Popular Nigerian media personality, IK Osakioduwa, is the host for the Africa
Magic Viewers Choice Awards opening night gala, currently ongoing on Saturday night.
The opening gala formally flags off the series of eight-day activities preceding the award night slated for Saturday, May 14, 2022.
IK Osakioduwa has hosted the show in previous editions and will later be joined by South Africa’s Bonang Matheba, who will be making her hosting debut at the AMVCAs.
This was announced on the official site of the organisers of the show, Africa Magic, and a timeline of activities are also being shared across their social media pages.
The ongoing AMVCA opening night has celebrities like Bimbo Ademoye and Osas Ighodaro showing up in styleat the red carpet.
This year’s edition of the awards ceremony is held for eight days as opposed to the one-day event that had been held in the past.
The Executive Head, Content and West Africa Channels, MultiChoice Nigeria, Busola Tejumola, stated that this year’s edition of the AMVCAs is focused on shining the light on the many aspects that make up the African film and television industry.
Also scheduled for the week are curated events such as the ‘AMVCA Runway Show’ on Sunday; Young Filmmakers’ Day, featuring movie screenings and panel discussions by students of the MultiChoice Talent Factory academy, on Monday.
This will be followed by the Africa Magic Content Market Workshop on Tuesday, and Digital Content Creator’s Brunch on Wednesday. The Culture and Food Festival Day is slated for Thursday, while the nominees’ gala will be held on Friday.
