Team Nigeria is guaranteed of at least a Silver medal in the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games as one of its wrestlers qualified for the final of her event.
Nigeria’s Blessing Oburududu performed the feat on Monday, 2 August, 2021 in Tokyo when when she fought her way into the Olympics final in the 68kg class.
In her semi final match on Monday, Blessing defeated Battsetseg Soronzonboldyn of Mongolia 7-2 to qualify for the final and guaranteed herself and Team Nigeria at least a Silver medal.
Blessing made her intention known earlier in the day when she defeated Elis Manolova of Azerbaijan 13-2 in her first match.
She then defeated Meerin Zhumanazarova of Armenia 3-2 in a hard fought quarter final bout before beating Soronzonboldyn in the semi final.
