There are strong indications that the mandatory slaughtering of ram may be more difficult for some Muslim faithful during this year’s Ed-El-Kabir celebration, judging by the steadily rising prices of rams.
Findings revealed that there was increased patronage in all sizes of live chickens as opposed to rams.
It was gathered that the price of ram has increased this year compared to last year across the state.
Apart from the price hike, rams were not even accessible in some of the markets, while patronage was low in all of the markets visited.
In areas where the rams are readily available, traders report that as the holiday approaches, buyers are not responding as they have in past years.
It was reliably gathered that a large ram that costs N30,000 last year now costs more than N60,000 this year.
