An activist and Convener of Nigerian Peace Advocacy Group (NPAG), Omolola Olukayode has warned Lagos residents against disobeying the preventive measures put in place by the state administration under Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his team for their safety and survival.

Olukayode, in a statement in Lagos warned that, there is no alternative to containing the spread of the dreaded coronavirus than strict adherence to the preventive measures put in place by the government, stressing that, anything contrary would amount to undermining the governor’s efforts at keeping his people safe and alive.

Governor Sanwo-Olu Says Lagos Remains West Africa’s Biggest Food Market at Agrinnovation Summit 2.0

Condemning the careless conduct of the Lagos residents during the partial ease granted the people from the stay at home order, the concerned activist asserted that, the only therapy to survive the monster and stay safe is to keep indoors always when there is no urgent necessity  to step of the house to the streets.

He express sadness that the people the government is trying to protect go against the government’s directives about their safety, regretting that the good gestures of the governor and his team are not being reciprocated as expected.

Olukayode gave kudos to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his team of competent aides for consistently doing the needful for the welfare of the people, just as he urged that his administration’s efforts at seeing the people safe and alive should not be allowed to be an exercise n futility.

He regretted the increasing rate of the spread on daily basis describing the development as disheartening and disturbing just as he stressed, for the umpteen times that the most effective alternative to see to the end of the contagious disease is strict observance of the preventive measures as stated by the authorities.

The group leader said the preventive measures are not supposed to be difficult for the people to observed, wondering how could simple instructions like keeping Social Distancing, wearing of face cover, washing of hands, keeping away from crowd and observing normal hygienic routines be so difficult for the sake of survival, safety and staying alive!

Against this backdrop, the youthful group leader believed that, Governor Sanwo-Olu, should not be frustrated but should be given due respect, support, encouragement and a pat on the back for doing a good job, warning that any negative conduct that could undermine his positive efforts towards the welfare of his people would not do anybody good.

He also urged those undergoing treatment not take their understandably anxiety too far to undermine the government’s set objectives just as he stressed the need for cooperation and acts of patriotism.

Olukayode therefore enjoined the opposition parties to join hands with the governor to succeed in the onerous task of keeping the state safe for all and sundry, warning that, destructive criticism and unnecessary detraction would do more harm than good to the good people of the state who would see them as enemies of progress.

In conclusion, the passionate activist therefore appealed to all the willing donors from home and abroad to make Lagos State a priority in their consideration just as he called on the Federal Government to kindly provide all the required support for Lagos as succour and relief for Sanwo-Olu to succeed in his relentless efforts at achieving a safer society.
