Johnnie Walker Blonde, the official drinks partner of the Guinness World Records screening of Black Market the Movie, toasted Nigerian filmmaker Nora Awolowo’s record-breaking feat as more than 51,000 film lovers gathered at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos.
The landmark screening, held over the weekend, brought together thousands of cinema enthusiasts and young creatives, turning the iconic venue into a massive celebration of Nigerian filmmaking and Awolowo’s Guinness World Records achievement.

As the official drinks partner, Johnnie Walker Blonde supported the historic screening, aligning with its commitment to youth culture, emerging talent and non-traditional creativity.
For Awolowo, the milestone marked a significant point in her filmmaking journey, from mobile filmmaking to directing Black Market and staging a screening on a scale that attracted more than 51,000 people.
“Tonight proved what is possible when young African creators are given the backing to dream without limits,” said Awolowo, director and director of photography of Black Market the Movie.

“Moving from mobile filmmaking to directing an event of this scale is a dream, and having Johnnie Walker Blonde champion this journey made the experience unforgettable,” Arowolo stated.
Cynthia Ufele, Senior Brand Manager, Johnnie Walker, African Partner Markets, said Awolowo’s journey reflected the brand’s Keep Walking philosophy of daring to dream and pursuing those ambitions boldly.
“Nora’s journey embodies the precise spirit of the Keep Walking Ethos of daring to dream and having the courage to walk boldly towards it,” Ufele said.
She said the turnout at TBS demonstrated what could be achieved when young Nigerian creatives receive the backing to pursue ambitious projects.
“Seeing over 50,000 people come together at Tafawa Balewa Square to witness and celebrate this Guinness World Records win is a powerful reminder of what can happen when we back bold Nigerian creators and give their dreams room to grow,” she said.
Ufele added that Johnnie Walker Blonde was proud to support a milestone that celebrated Nigerian creativity while showcasing the possibilities for African cinema on the global stage.
