The Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government Administration, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development has commended the Chairman of Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. (Dr.) Bayo Adefuye, for the developmental projects and programmes being implemented across the council area.
The commendation came on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, when members of the Committee visited Yaba LCDA as part of an ongoing statewide oversight inspection of projects in Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across Lagos State.
The oversight exercise, which began on June 22, is aimed at assessing the implementation of developmental projects, evaluating service delivery, and ensuring the prudent use of public resources at the grassroots level.
The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Babatunde Ganiyu Okanlawon, alongside Hon. Surajudeen Tijani, Hon. Abiodun Orekoya, Hon. Stephen Ogundipe, Hon. Samuel Apata, Hon. Adebola Shabi and Hon. Jubril AbdulKareem.
During the visit, the lawmakers inspected various projects executed by the Yaba LCDA administration and received updates on ongoing developmental initiatives and interventions designed to improve the welfare of residents.
Speaking after the inspection, members of the Committee praised the council chairman for what they described as significant progress in infrastructure development, transparency and grassroots governance. They noted that the projects inspected reflected a strong commitment to improving the living conditions of residents and advancing sustainable development within the council area.
The lawmakers also applauded Adefuye’s focus on people-centred programmes and infrastructural renewal, describing the level of development recorded in the LCDA as impressive and worthy of emulation.
In his response, Adefuye thanked the Committee for the visit and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering quality projects and impactful programmes that would continue to drive socio-economic development in the area.
He attributed the council’s achievements to the support of the Lagos State Government, the Lagos State House of Assembly and the cooperation of residents, assuring that his administration would remain focused on initiatives that directly improve the lives of the people.
The oversight visit forms part of the Lagos State House of Assembly’s constitutional responsibility to monitor government activities, promote accountability and ensure effective service delivery at the local government level.
The Committee is expected to continue its inspection of projects in other LGAs and LCDAs as part of its comprehensive assessment of ongoing and completed projects across the state.
