A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Samuel Mawuyon Ajose, has declared that Badagry Division deserves to produce the next governor of Lagos State in 2027, expressing confidence that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu would hand over power to him.

Ajose made the declaration during a solidarity meeting in Badagry where various religious, ethnic and community-based groups endorsed his aspiration ahead of the APC governorship primaries slated for Thursday, May 21, 2026.

The coalition comprised Muslim and Christian bodies, traditional worshippers, Hausa, Fulani, Igbo and other ethnic communities, as well as representatives of traditional quarters in Badagry Town.

Addressing supporters at the gathering, Ajose thanked the groups for their endorsement and urged them to mobilise support for his ambition during the party primaries.

“Governor Sanwo-Olu will hand over to me as governor of Lagos State. It is my turn,” Ajose declared amid cheers from party supporters and residents.

The APC chieftain stated that Badagry had consistently remained loyal to the progressive fold in Lagos State and should be given the opportunity to produce the next governor in the interest of fairness, inclusiveness and balanced representation.

According to him, his emergence as governor would not only accelerate development in Badagry Division but also promote unity and equitable governance across Lagos State.

Ajose further appealed to APC members and residents of the division to remain united and committed as the party’s governorship primary approaches.

Prominent personalities at the event included the Chief Imam of Badagry Division, Sheikh AbdulHakeem Uwais Akewusola, leaders of Christian organisations, market associations and representatives of various ethnic nationalities.
