Lagos stood still on Saturday, 18 October, 2025, when members of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), trooped to the Police College playing ground not only to witness the inauguration of the Presidential Coalition Committee (PCC) but also to identify with the body.

All the 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas of the state were fully represented as Ikeja turned into massive heads of blue and orange caps with Fuji King, K1 De Ultimate on the bandstand.

The PCC was set up to mobilise and galvanise massive grassroots support and votes for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

The Ikeja event was the maiden public outing of the group and the leaders did not disappoint as confirmed by the unprecedented crowd that witness the inauguration of the state structure of the group and 40,000 street captains to drive the mobilisation dream and make the aims and objectives of the group a reality.

Speaking at the inauguration, the state Coordinator of PCC and member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Honourable James Abiodun Faleke, stated that the formation and inauguration of the PCC is meant to galvanise support for the President and mobilise massive votes for him in the 2027 general elections.

According to him, the inauguration of the street captains was meant to mobilise voters to go and register and collect their PVCs with the aim of voting in the coming elections.

“Campaign has not started, what we have done today is to inaugurate the street captains and their immediate duty for now is to mobilise people to go and register and collect their PVCs.

“Go all out! Bring at least five new voters each. Without your PVC, you can’t have a say in governance! Please tell our people at home who are not here,” Faleke, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, said.

Also speaking, PCC Lagos Planning Committee Chairman, Barr. Kolade Alabi, said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is already transforming Nigeria — from institutional reforms to economic recovery.

“President Tinubu’s leadership is redefining governance and rebuilding confidence in the Nigerian dream and he deserves re-election. We must register, collect our PVCs and vote massively for him. Our immediate assignment for now is simple: every eligible Lagosian must register. Every PVC must collected. Every voice must be heard. Therefore, we should not stand aloof, we must be involved,” Alabi said.

A member of the PCC Planning Committee and immediate past Chairman of Odiolowo-Ojuwoye LCDA, Honourable Rasaq Olusola Ajala, told reporters that the inauguration of the state structure of the group and the street captains signal the commencement of comprehensive awareness to galvanise the people of Lagos State to register and participate fully in governance.

“We are embarking on comprehensive awareness to galvanise residents into action. The street captains have been given marching order to bring at least five new voters to register and collect their PVCs.

“Our final aim is to ensure that people of Lagos vote massively for Asiwaju. Our leader deserves re-election and we are ready to do all things legally possible to ensure his return to power in 2027. This is just the commencement of the desire to achieve this dream,” Ajala said.

Also speaking at the event, Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi appealed to the residents to ensure that they collect their PVCs and make sure they vote when election period comes.

“Your vote is your power, and you can only participate in governance by voting and being voted for.

“We need to know also that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has performed remarkably well. His socio-economic reforms are yielding positive fruits. It is imperative for us to ensure his re-election and we can only do this if we register and vote.

“Please take the message and talk to your family members, your neighbours and your friends. We must register. We must collect our PVCs and we must vote,” Afikuyomi said.

Prominent politicians witness the inauguration ceremony while those who could not attend due to one reason or the other sent in goodwill messages offering their support.
