The explosion occurred during rush hour as commuters were returning home, triggering multiple secondary blasts and widespread panic.

Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene to provide rescue services, with personnel from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other security agencies working to contain the situation.

Eyewitnesses reported that the explosion caused severe gridlock, forcing many motorists to abandon their vehicles.

As of 8:30 p.m., traffic remained at a standstill in both directions of the expressway, with stranded commuters struggling to navigate the chaos.
