Renowned actress and filmmaker Wumi Toriola is overjoyed by the remarkable success of her film, Queen Lateefah, which has become one of Nigeria’s highest-grossing movies of 2024, earning an impressive N350 million at the box office.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, Toriola expressed her excitement while acknowledging the pressure to maintain the momentum.
“It feels amazing, but it also comes with a huge responsibility because there’s always the drive to improve. Surpassing this record is a big challenge,” she said.
Looking ahead to 2025, the actress teased even bigger projects and high-profile collaborations.
“We have something massive in the works—more partnerships, but on a much grander scale,” she hinted.
Reflecting on the journey to Queen Lateefah’s success, Toriola highlighted the value of patience and preparation.
“I’ve learned that timing is everything. I initially planned to shoot Queen Lateefah about four years ago, but things didn’t align. I kept refining the script until I was fully satisfied.”
”There were setbacks and disappointments, but I’ve realized that when you finally step out, do it the right way. Proper preparation made all the difference,” she shared.
