The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, hosted the CEO of Empire Publishing and Distribution, Mr. Ghazi Shami, and his team at her office in Alausa, Ikeja, for a strategic meeting.
The meeting focused on establishing partnerships to advance Nigeria’s creative industry, particularly in building local capacity, identifying and nurturing talent, and improving music production, distribution, and management processes.
This initiative marks a significant milestone in fostering a Cultural Exchange Program between the United States and Nigeria, with a strong emphasis on the music sector and music education.
One of the core elements of the partnership is the creation of a Music Academy in collaboration with renowned U.S. institutions.
The academy will serve as a center for talent training and skill development, equipping Nigerian musicians and producers with the tools needed to thrive in the competitive global market.
The collaboration also aims to promote cultural dialogue and share best practices in the arts, providing Nigerian artists with access to international expertise and resources.
