Pa Akinsanya Sunny Ajose, OON, the esteemed apex leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Badagry and a revered statesman in Lagos State politics, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, January 16, 2025.
The announcement of his passing was made by Hon. Solomon Bonu Saanu, Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Badagry Constituency I. Sharing the sad news on social media, Bonu simply wrote, “RIP Baba Sunny.”
Pa Ajose was a prominent figure in Lagos politics and the sole representative of Badagry in the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), the highest decision-making body in the state.
His dedication to the development of Badagry and Lagos State earned him widespread respect and admiration.
A seasoned administrator, Pa Ajose served as Lagos State Head of Service during the administration of then-Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In this role, he was instrumental in implementing key reforms and policies that have had lasting impacts on governance in the state.
Born in Badagry, Lagos State, Pa Ajose’s educational journey began at Ijaiye Baptist Day School in 1954, and he completed his primary education at Tinubu Methodist Day School in 1959.
He later attended Badagry Divisional Grammar School, graduating in 1964. He furthered his education in the United States, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Illinois, Chicago, in 1973, followed by a Master of Arts in Social Science from Governors State University in 1974.
His passing has left a void in the political and social circles of Badagry, with many describing him as a unifying force and a guiding light within the APC.
While tributes pour in from political stakeholders and community leaders across Lagos State, funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
Pa Akinsanya Sunny Ajose’s legacy of leadership, integrity, and unwavering commitment to public service will continue to inspire generations to come.
