This collaboration was formalized during a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony held yesterday at Galaxy Backbone’s headquarters.

The Deputy Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Bar. Sam Ode, Mni, led a delegation that included the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Bar. Fidelis Mnyim, and the Honourable Commissioner of Communications and Digital Economy, Hon. Kwaghugba Amande.

They were warmly received by Hon. Olusegun Olulade, Executive Director of Customer Centricity and Marketing at Galaxy Backbone, representing the company’s Managing Director, leadership, management, and staff.

The primary objective of the visit was to sign an MOU for the establishment and management of the Benue Digital Infrastructure Company PLC (BDIC).

The initiative aims to enhance connectivity and drive digital transformation across various sectors in Benue State.

Expressing his admiration for Galaxy Backbone’s infrastructure and human resources, Deputy Governor Ode emphasized the importance of strengthening the partnership with Galaxy Backbone.

He reiterated the Benue State Government’s commitment to collaborating closely with the ICT giant to achieve their shared vision of digital advancement.

During the ceremony, Hon. Olulade highlighted the strategic alignment between BDIC’s vision and Galaxy Backbone’s goals.

He provided an overview of Galaxy Backbone’s extensive infrastructure, including the deployment of about 6,000 kilometers of fiber optic cable through the National ICT Infrastructure Backbone Project (NICTIB), implemented by Huawei.

According to Hon. Olulade,”This network covers over 30 states, with specific segments connecting Lafiya to Makurdi (113 km) and Makurdi to Ugbokolo (152 km).

“Additionally, three LTE sites strategically located at the Federal Secretariat, Benue State University, and Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, provide mobile connectivity for eGovernment services.

“We are keen to leverage our Tier 3 Data Center in Abuja and Tier 4 Data Center in Kano to support this laudable initiative.

“Furthermore, we have a robust cloud infrastructure for public consumption in a cost-effective and scalable manner,” Olulade stated.

He also emphasized the availability of Galaxy Backbone’s Government Operational Security Operating Center (GBB SoC), an effective tool for early detection and management of cyber threats within Nigeria’s cyberspace.

Hon. Olulade assured the Benue State delegation of Galaxy Backbone’s adherence to international standards, including ISO 27001, 20000, 9001, and 22301, as well as the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCIDSS), to support Nigeria’s ICT and FinTech ecosystem.

The event was graced by other partners, including the CEO and Managing Director of Huawei Nigeria, Mr. Chris Lu.

Hon. Olulade concluded his remarks with a resounding endorsement: “Whenever you think digital transformation, think Galaxy Backbone Ltd.”
