A leader in the Muslim community in Lagos State, Hon. Oyinlomo Danmole, has appealed to the striking labor union to suspend their action in the overall interest of Nigerians.

He also requests that the labor union return to the negotiation table with the federal government, as there have been positive results in their demand for a new minimum wage in the recent past.

In a statement released in Lagos, Hon. Danmole urged the federal government and its negotiating team to demonstrate sincerity of purpose in order to reach an amicable resolution to the impasse.

Danmole, who is the Mogaji Adinni of Lagos and Baba Adini of Surulere, regretted that the first day of the strike had caused a major setback in the aviation sector, with some flights to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj exercise being disrupted. He also expressed concern that this month’s Eid-el Kabir celebration is under threat.

He further expressed worry that the strike had thrown the nation into total darkness, thereby paralyzing socio-economic activities.

Hon. Danmole believes that joint efforts should be prioritized to restore the nation’s economy and prevent anything that could further inflict hardship on innocent Nigerians.

According to him, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu must urgently and personally intervene in the matter, as he has done with other national issues.

The labor union declared an indefinite strike action starting today to protest the federal government’s refusal of the ₦494,000 new minimum wage request and the total reversal of the electricity tariff.
