The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reiterated the need for qualitative education for girls.
She emphasized that education empowers girls and women to make informed decisions about their health and other aspects of their lives.
Speaking at the quarterly meeting with Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Zonal and State Coordinators, who are the wives of state governors, Senator Oluremi Tinubu highlighted that TETFUND is partnering with RHI to provide interventions in infrastructural and human capital development for tertiary institutions.
She instructed the coordinators to nominate a tertiary institution in their respective states, whether Federal or State-owned, as the first phase of the intervention will be per zone.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu urged the wives of the Governors to seize the opportunity provided by these programs for the benefit of their states’ citizens.
She further announced that the Federal Ministry of Agriculture would collaborate with RHI to support 100 farmers in each state, aiming to encourage youth participation in agriculture.
The First Lady also encouraged the wives of state governors to promote participation in the ongoing Unity Fabric competition, offering a prize of N25 million naira.
The meeting addressed the ongoing Every Home a Garden competition, where first-time women farmers are encouraged to cultivate gardens at home to ensure sufficient food supply for themselves and their communities.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu revealed that the Women in Agriculture Support Program (WASP), which commenced in the South East Zone in Imo State, would also take place in the other five geopolitical zones, with Ogun State hosting the next session on April 16th.
The meeting concluded with the First Lady extending felicitations to all Muslim faithful observing the ongoing Ramadan fast, praying for greater peace and prosperity in the country.
