The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 governorship election in Sokoto State, Sa’idu Umar has expressed his dissatisfaction with the tribunal ruling that dismissed his petition against Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s election.
Umar, along with his running mate and political party, has decided to appeal the judgment in a higher court.
In a statement, Umar thanked his supporters for their continuous support and prayers throughout the process of reclaiming their alleged stolen mandate.
He emphasized that their ambition is to serve the people of Sokoto State through a free and fair election.
Therefore, the tribunal ruling is just a stage in their quest to regain the electorate’s mandate.
Umar assured his supporters and the electorate that they are an integral part of this struggle and that they will pursue it with determination and commitment.
The candidate stated that they find the tribunal’s ruling unacceptable and their legal team is currently analyzing the details to determine the appropriate next steps.
Recognizing the judiciary as the last hope of the common man, Umar called on everyone to remain focused, law-abiding, and dedicated to the task of retrieving their mandate through the civilized instrument of justice and the rule of law.
