The rate of indecency in the dressings of the students in the university is high. It’s so unfortunate seeing a town-gown becoming a stripper club. It’s high time it stopped before it becomes an act that cannot be ignored.
As we all know that the word “indecent” means offensive to good taste. Not in keeping with conventional moral values. So, therefore, indecent dressing is an act of dressing in a way that is not in keeping with conventional moral values. The question here is what are conventional moral values?
Conventional moral values are values accepted in our society. Indecent dressing is not acceptable in society.
It’s so sad, to see indecent dressing so rampant in the universities. No valid differences between a pub and a university. It is a university which means a place where learning occurs. It’s surprising seeing students dressing in a lecture room as if they’re going to a night party. We see students wearing different kinds of clothes exposing their bodies. Like I’ve said before a town gown is a place of learning and we are expected to dress responsibly and not anyhow.
The students claim all of these indecent dressings to be fashionable which is not even fashion but madness. Fashion means polite or genteel life. You wear crazy jeans when you’re not crazy and you claim it to be fashion that is not a fashion it is called madness and as we all know madness is not acceptable in the learning environment.
Female students wearing of transparent dresses, mini and skimpy dresses, wearing of tight-fitting apparel; wearing clothes that reveal sensitive parts of the body like the breast and buttocks, wearing shirts and tops with obscene, obnoxious or seductive inscriptions, not only dressings but also the plaiting of longs hairs reaching the buttocks, attaching artificial colour to the natural hair, wearing of nose rings, wearing of baggy jeans should all be shunned. Not only the female students tho, including the male students wearing earrings, necklaces, plaiting or weaving of hair, tattoos on the body, and wearing of slippers, but all of these should also be shunned so that the university will be conducive for learning.
You’re addressed the way you’re dressed. Looking good is a good business as one of my teachers will say. Even the bible makes us understand that they should be moderation in our dressings. It is a learning environment and not a place of entertainment. So, I employ the management of all universities to look into all these things that have been mentioned about indecent dressing and make rules and regulations that will guide the students to dress responsibly and any student who refuses to align with the rules and regulations of the school management should be sanctioned.
