A huge crowd of supporters yesterday welcomed the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, where he discussed with former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
The eminent politician was welcomed to the ancient town by Governor Dapo Abiodun; former Governor Olusegun Osoba; his deputy, Senator Gbenga Kaka; Senator Gbenga Obadara, former Governor Gbenga Daniel, Femi Majekodunmi, Tunde Oladunjoye and Kunle Adeyemi.
Tinubu was accompanied by former APC Interim National Chairman Chief Bisi Akande, House of Representatives Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, former APC National Vice Chairman, Chief Pius Akinyelure, Senator Andy Uba and Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
A source said the private meeting between Obasanjo and Tinubu lasted for two hours at the Presidential Library, Abeokuta.
“It was a family affair; a Yoruba affair; and a national affair. It was an atmosphere of brotherhood,” added the source.
Tinubu, who later spoke with reporters, said he was in the state to thank the leaders and people and not for a political campaign.
Tinubu said he came to appreciate the state chapter of the APC and its members for supporting his 2023 presidential ambition and the re-election bid of Governor Abiodun.
