Just days after being recognised as Best Online creator for 2022 by AMVCA, Internet comedian Chukwuemeka Emmanuel Ekekwu aka Mr Sabinus, has sued two companies for alleged intellectual theft and psychological damage.
While the milk producing brand Peak used his croon “Something hooge”, the sausage brand Gala used the cartoon image of himmaking calculations.
He sued Peak Milk for N1billion and Gala for N100m.
According to his counsels the suit was for: “Emotional, physical, psychological and mental trauma our client has suffered for the trademark theft and the infringement of his intellectual rights property”.
In a pre-litigation notice to UAC Food Ltd which is dated 25 May 2022, Sabinus demanded N100m “for the use of the picture which is the average fee our client charges for his picture to be used for adverts and promotions”.
