“Life is just unfair…. tired of trying! 😔” Super Falcons captain and Barcelona Femeni striker Asisat Oshoala tweeted on Thursday.
The tweet was later deleted by the four times African Player of the Year 2019, 2014, 2016 and 2017.
The year 2014 was a stellar one for her as she also claimed the Ballon d’Or and the Golden Shoe at the U20 World Cup.
Her Twitter followers showed her massive supports in the comment section, noting that being wealthy doesn’t usually mean being happy.
“If Asisat Oshoala can tweet that ‘life is unfair and tired of trying’… Despite her popularity, fame and wealth, it makes us know money doesn’t guarantee 100 per cent happiness.”
It will be recalled that in the year 2015, she reportedly had some serious problems with her mental health, suffering from depression and sharing suicidal thoughts.
“I’m tired of life, I want to leave already,” she wrote in one of her posts back then.
“The psychologist was with her 24/7 and even other officials, including our leader of the delegation, spent time with Oshoala, taking to her not to allow the weight of the BBC Award [Footballer of the Year] depress her. But she kept saying that the focus on her was becoming too much.
“I am sure she is yet to overcome the depression because Oshoala didn’t really perform to expectation in this World Cup. This is not the Oshoala we used to know,” Nigeria’s official representative noted then.
Asisat Oshola is one of the best female African players in the world.
