A Lagos based indigenous organization, Egbe Omoluabi Eko (Egbe), has stated reason for its call for Osinbajo presidency in 2023 after the expiration of the tenure of his boss, president Muhammadu Buhari, saying, it is the development that could guarantee required continuity of the process of the progress foundation Buhari has laid while understudying him closely.
In a press released from Egbe’s leader, Ogbeni Ekundayo Ibrahim, bringing a new tenant to the Villa from outside would give room for the waste of time and resources that would be expended on the ‘stranger’s’ to settle down and acclimatize, saying, it would not be so if Osinbajo, who would just take a few step to move into the next office and start work where his boss stopped.
With Osinbajo as the successor to his boss, the phrase, ‘hit the ground running’ would be apt as he would not be a stranger in a terrain he was familiar with for eight years, the statement pointed out warning against a situation whereby a trial and error stranger would be brought in to slow down the pace of activities of governance.
“Nigerians are already used to the way Buhari does his things. And it is not a gainsaying that he carries his loyal deputy, Osinbajo along. Against this backdrop, it is expected that Osinbajo, with his level of his political experience and administrative acumen transcending over two decades would fit in instantly as a successor.
“Bringing in a new face in Aso Villa after Buhari be tantamount to betrayal of the good governance-loving people of Nigeria. And posterity may not forgive whoever contributes in putting unnecessary clog in the wheel of the smooth progress of the country,” the group warned through the press release.
The group further stated that, Osinbajo’s intimidating credentials are enough to speak for him without waiting for unnecessary debate on his eligibility to succeed his boss post 2023, asserting that, “his sojourn in the Villa with his boss for this while without rancour is a great testimony that Osinbajo has been destined to succeed his boss naturally.”
“Despite his academic height, professional acumen and administrative excellence as a lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Osinbajo still remains cool headed, humble, loyal and unassuming,” the statement revealed, warning however against any act that would deny the country of a fine successor like Professor Yemi Osinbajo in 2023.
