The Lagos state government has reiterated its readiness to support every initiative aimed at empowering the residents.
State commissioner for Finance, Dr. RABIU OLOWO who stated this said such support became imperative in order to make residents self reliant and productive.
He was speaking at the distribution of Certificate to participants of 5 week intensive training for 625 people by the Centre for Youth Development and Skills Acquisition (CYDAS).
Represented by Hon, GHAZALI ABDULAZEEZ, the commissioner urged beneficiaries to maximise the benefits of the training in also becoming an employer of labour.
He said government will continue to provide conducive atmosphere for new business to thrive since it cannot alone meet job demands of residents.
Also speaking at the event, APC chieftain in Lagos Mainlalnd, Otunba TAYO OYEMADE called for sustainability of the programme.
According to him, when opportunities are created for the youths and the unemployed, it will lead to reduction in social vices affecting the society today.
On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of CYDAS, OLAPADE ALABA OLATUNJI commended the commissioner for bankrolling the training while also expressing satisfaction with the conduct of the participants.
Some of the participants who thanked the commissioner for identifying with the programme said they already receiving patronage from far and near.
Areas in which they acquired skills include; event decoration, make up, cake making and small chops.
