A human right group, Coalition of 70 Civil Organization for Sanwo-Olu, has supported Lagos State governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his workaholic team with 5,000 hand sanitizers and 5, 000 face masks for the war against the deadly coronavirus code-named COVID-19.

The convener of the coalition, Comrade Razaq Olokoba, who led his team to distribute the preventive materials in Lagos Monday said, “the gesture is to assist Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his able lieutenants in their relentless efforts at eradicating the monster from the state.”

According to him, since government cannot do everything, “we deem it fit to come out to assist in our small ways to complement the government’s efforts to curtail the spread of the highly contagious disease,” reminding that, “governance across the globe is about collective responsibilities.”

Against this background, the youthful human rights activist and public commentator therefore enjoined other stakeholders in the state to support the Sanwo-Olu and his team of competent personalities to rid the state of coronavirus.

In addition, Olokoba also appealed to all the beneficiaries of the preventive gargets to always make use of it whenever the need arises for them to go out just as he also urged them to stay indoors always, reminding that, “prevention is better and cheaper than cure.”

While commending the governor and his team over the task of combatting the global pandemic, the Coalition Convener seized the opportunity to wealthy individuals, corporate organizations, social and religious bodies to do more in their support for the governor in terms of more palliatives to the less privileged in the society.

“There is no gainsaying that, availability  palliatives would go a long way to keep people indoor and guarantee the expected percentage of compliance with the preventive measures rolled out by the authorities, stressing that, “the task is ours that must be done.

Two beneficiaries, Mrs Omowunmi Oyebode, a trader and Mr. Olaniran Akinola, who spoke with our correspondent commended members of the coalition for their thoughtfulness and urged others who are blessed by the almighty God to emulate them, reasoning that, this act of patriotism is worthy of emulation.
