The All-Women Committee of the Independent Marketers Branch (IMB) of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Lagos Zonal Council, has officially endorsed Comrade Adebiyi Babatunde Musiliu, popularly known as Mesele, for the position of Zonal Chairman.
The endorsement ceremony, held earlier today at the IPMAN Building, Odo Ona, Ibadan, brought together key stakeholders, union executives, and members of the women’s wing to affirm their confidence in Mesele’s leadership vision and capacity to move the union forward.
The endorsement marks a significant boost for Mesele’s candidacy ahead of the zonal elections and underscores the growing call for transparent and inclusive leadership within NUPENG.
With the support of the women’s committee now firmly behind him, Mesele appears poised to lead the Lagos Zonal Council into a new chapter.
Speaking at the event, the incumbent Zonal Chairman, Comrade Abayomi Olayemi, welcomed the leadership of the women’s committee, including the National Chief Welfare Officer, Comrade Adejoke Oyeleke, and the Zonal Treasurer, Comrade Kemi Olayiwola.
In his farewell address, Comrade Olayemi introduced Mesele as his preferred successor, citing his commitment, experience, and progressive agenda.
In his remarks, Mesele, who currently serves as the Zonal Vice Chairman, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and promised to run an inclusive administration with a special focus on women’s empowerment.
“I am humbled by your endorsement and inspired by your confidence in my leadership. I promise to improve welfare packages and ensure the full inclusion of women in the affairs of the union,” said Mesele as he’s fondly called.
