The Youth Alliance for Good Governance (YAGG) has commended the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the comprehensive success recorded during the recently concluded primary elections for the coming council elections in the state.

The YAGG is a group within the APC in Lagos State.

The primary elections, conducted on Saturday, 10 May, 2025 to Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates for the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) was generally regarded as resounding success by majority of party members.

YAGG, in a press statement signed by Adeola Otapo and Salisu Musa, Chairperson and Publicity Secretary of the group respectively, commended members of the election committee and party leaders who worked behind the scene for a job well done.

“It is unprecedented. This is the first time such success will be recorded. There were no cases of violence, injury or death. This is an exercise we must all commended, hence those behind this huge success deserve our commendations and not condemnation,” the group said.

According to the group, there is no way such event will go without protest since protest is part of democracy.

“It is a contest where many people jostled for one position in each council and ward. Therefore, there must be winners and losers. All contestants cannot occupy the same position at the same time,” YAGG said.

While acknowledging the pockets of protests in some councils, the group noted the positive outcome in virtually all the councils.

“We should all commend those in charge for a job well done. We should commend their perseverance, wisdom and diligence in ensuring that the primary elections were devoid of violence and that the outcome was generally acceptable to virtually all party members,” the group said.
