The Senate has suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months following her sexual harassment allegation against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The decision came after the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions recommended her suspension on Thursday, March 6, 2024.
As part of the disciplinary action, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s salary and security details will be withdrawn throughout the suspension period.
The committee also ruled that she must not be seen within the National Assembly premises during this time.
Her suspension stems from the controversy surrounding her formal petition accusing Akpabio of misconduct.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, had submitted the petition before the Senate, sparking a dispute that led to this disciplinary measure.
