The Secretary to Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos, southwest Nigeria, Adetayo Adekintan Oyemade, has been arrested for registering members of the public with unauthorised All Progressive Congress (APC) registration forms.
Adetayo who is the son of Otunba Oyemade, a prominent APC leader in Mainland, was caught red handed in his office within Yaba LCDA secretariat premises at about 5pm on Friday.
He was subsequently taken to Panti Police Station in Yaba after his arrest.
Adetayo who is one of the aspirants contesting for the Mainland Constituency 2 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, was later released on bail to his mother, Mrs Taiwo Oyemade who is the chairperson, Lagos Civil Service Commission at around 7pm.
It was reliably gathered that he has been using the fake APC registration forms to allegedly register unsuspecting members of the public within and outside his constituency before he was apprehended by the police from Panti.
Sources within the local government disclosed that he has allegedly printed about one million forms for the shady purpose.
His action it was further gathered, may not be unconnected with the forthcoming direct primary which APC Lagos is planning to use to select its candidates for all elective posts ahead of the 2019 general election where all members of the party will be involved right from the grassroots in the exercise.
All efforts to get Panti DCO’s reaction as at the time of filing this report proofs abortive.
