Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have apprehended a 48-year-old businessman, Orizu Ifeanyi Arthur, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, for ingesting 74 wraps of heroin and cocaine.
Orizu was intercepted on Sunday, December 22, 2024, while attempting to board Air France flight 844 to Paris, France.
During the outward clearance of passengers, he declined a body scan, claiming a medical condition prevented him from complying.
Subsequently, he was placed under custody for observation, during which he excreted the 74 wraps of the illicit drugs over a seven-day period.
In his statement, Orizu disclosed that he owns a shop at Balogun Market, Lagos Island, where he sells school and travel bags.
He admitted he had been promised €3,000 upon successful delivery of the drugs in Paris. To avoid detection, he traveled from Lagos to Abuja to board his flight, hoping to bypass security scrutiny.
