The Lagos State Government, through its Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, has empowered 2,500 graduates with employability skills as part of the Graduates Internship Placement Program (GIPP).
The onboarding ceremony, themed “Igniting a Future of Opportunities and Excellence,” took place yesterday, marking a pivotal step in enhancing the employability landscape across Lagos State.
The program aims to equip graduates with practical skills and real-world experiences, preparing them for successful careers in various industries.
Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Hon. Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, emphasized the initiative’s focus on youth empowerment and commended Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his unwavering leadership in championing opportunities for Lagos youth.
Addressing the participants, the Commissioner acknowledged their dedication during the Pre-internship Employability Skills Development Program and encouraged them to seize every opportunity during their internship to develop critical skills that will position them for success in the job market.
The ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, and Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs, H.E. Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, represented by former Alimosho LGA Chairman, Sir Ayo Akinyemi.
Other attendees included cabinet members, the Head of Service, Mr. Agoro Shuaheeb Olabode, political leaders, and representatives from partner organizations.
This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to providing young graduates with the necessary tools for accelerated personal and professional development, further positioning Lagos State as a hub for talent and innovation.
