A coalition of socio-political pressure groups under the umbrella of the Fishermen Association of Nigeria (FAN), has concluded plans to drag the former Chief Security Officer (CSO), to the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha (Retd), into the next year’s presidential race.

In a statement at the weekend signed by the coalition’s National President, Comrade Anthony Ashangye disclosed that, “if Mj Hamza Al-Mustapha fails or refuses to declare ambition to rule this country as President between now and Tuesday, we will have no option than to mobilise all associations of like minds across the country to force him to succumb to our patriotic wish by declaring his desire to run for the presidential seat.”

According to the statement, the solidarity rally will hold at the Old Parade Ground, Area 10, Abuja on Wednesday, the day of its National Conference.

The statement explains that, “our resolve to draft the youthful and intelligent Military Officer into the race is borne out of the belief that he has the wherewithal to lead this country to a prosperous socio-political and economic destination flowing with milk and honey.”

Recall that at a lecture recently in Kaduna, Al-Mustapha, while fielding questions from the newsmen stated that he would join the presidential race only if it was the wish of the good people of Nigeria.

It is on record that Al-Mustapha is the Founder and National Leader of the Green Party of Nigeria (GPN), a platform on which he is expected to contest if he eventually agrees to do so.
