Commissioner at the Lagos State House of Assembly Service Commission, Hon. KK Alidu, has emphasized the critical role of harnessing innate talents and acquired skills in achieving personal and societal growth.
Speaking at an empowerment seminar held yesterday at Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Alidu underscored the uniqueness of every individual’s abilities, noting that nurturing these traits can unlock remarkable potential.
“Innate talent refers to natural abilities that manifest effortlessly, such as creativity, leadership, and interpersonal skills,” Alidu explained.
However, he stressed that talent alone is insufficient for excellence. “Talent is the seed, but skills are the nurturing soil that transforms potential into tangible success,” he remarked.
Alidu highlighted self-discovery as the first step in unlocking these abilities.
“Understanding one’s strengths is crucial,” he said, adding that many people overlook their inherent talents due to societal pressures or a lack of awareness.
He also emphasized the importance of education and mentorship as essential tools for refining natural abilities and turning them into skills that drive success.
“The synergy between talent and skills is what propels individuals toward excellence in their respective fields,” Alidu noted.
He added that leveraging these qualities not only empowers individuals but also contributes significantly to societal progress.
He encouraged participants to prioritize self-improvement and collaborative growth. “By exploring your talents and refining your skills, you not only unlock your own potential but also inspire others to realize theirs,” he said.
The seminar, which inspired attendees to embark on journeys of self-discovery and development, reinforced the significance of Alidu’s message in fostering a skilled and resourceful society.
