Budding music artist, Cheita Uwolo Daniel, popularly known by his stage name King Voodoo, is preparing to take the Nigerian music industry by storm. The budding Afrobeat sensation, discovered by BigBeth TV’s CEO, Mr. Beth Egenti, is set to carve a niche for himself in the competitive music world.
Egenti, a well-known entertainment mogul, has a reputation for grooming rising stars and organizing high-profile events.
King Voodoo, a native of Abuja and a Mass Communication graduate, shared in a recent interview that his passion for Afrobeat is what sets him apart. “I dabble into all aspects of music, but Afrobeat is my stronghold,” he said. “I’m flexible, though—I can thrive in any genre if I need to. I also dabble in production and play the guitar, so I like keeping myself busy.”
Despite the creative ease he enjoys, the business side of the industry has been a challenge for the young artist. “I’ve struggled to penetrate the industry. You have these visions, but they don’t always go as planned,” King Voodoo admits. However, he remains optimistic, backed by an in-house record label managed by his family, who he credits for supporting his dreams. “All hands are on deck, and the label is fully registered.”
As for his inspiration, King Voodoo describes himself as an emotional artist who pours his feelings into his music. “I want my listeners to enjoy the flavor of my music, but I also want them to take away a message,” he explained.
King Voodoo has yet to choose a single mentor in the industry, instead opting to learn from the successes of various artists. “I research what others are doing right and implement it in my own work,” he shared.
Having once worked as a photographer, King Voodoo established connections with prominent artists but prefers to maintain his independence. “I’ve had friendly conversations with established artists, but I don’t want to feel like a burden,” he explained.
Now, with four tracks gaining traction across streaming platforms, King Voodoo is ready for his big break. His mentor, Mr. Beth Egenti, echoed this sentiment, stating, “With proper packaging, the sky is not his limit—it’s just the starting point. He has the swag and the technical know-how to go far.”
King Voodoo’s journey is just beginning, and with the support of BigBeth TV, the Nigerian music industry may soon witness the rise of its next big star.
