Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, unveiled Datti Baba-Ahmed as his running mate Friday morning.<\/p>\n
This came shortly after the running mate \u201cplace holder\u201d, Doyin Okupe, withdrew from the race.<\/span><\/p>\n Below are some things to know about the Labour Party Vice Presidential candidate in the 2023 general election:<\/span><\/p>\n 1 \u2013 Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed was born to the Baba-Ahmed family in Zaria, Kaduna State, in 1975\/1976<\/span><\/p>\n 2 \u2013 He is among the thirty-three children of his father, Baba Ahmed, who was an Arab cattle-trader from modern day Mauritania,\u00a0who later became a notable professor and expert on\u00a0Islamic jurisprudence.<\/span><\/p>\n 3 \u2013 Baba-Ahmed has a BSc and MSc in Economics from the\u00a0University of Maiduguri\u00a0in\u00a0Borno State.<\/span><\/p>\n 4 \u2013 He worked in the security Printing and Minting,\u00a0Lagos before entering into politics.<\/span><\/p>\n 5 \u2013 Baba-Ahmed was elected as\u00a0House of Representatives member for Zaria Federal Constituency on the platform of All Nigeria People\u2019s Party in 2003.<\/span><\/p>\n 6 \u2013 While in the position, he became known for speaking out against corruption and the Third Term Agenda of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.<\/span><\/p>\n 7 \u2013 In 2006, while a Federal representative, he earned the title of Doctor of Philosophy when he completed his PhD studies at the University of Westminster.<\/span><\/p>\n 8 \u2013 Baba-Ahmed was founder and Pro-Chancellor of Baze University, an independent university located in Abuja,\u00a0the Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria.\u00a0which opened in April 2011.<\/span><\/p>\n 9 \u2013 In the April 2011 elections, Baba-Ahmed polled 366,398 votes in the contest for Senator and won the senator seat for Kaduna North from 2011 to 2012.<\/span><\/p>\n 10 \u2013 Baba-Ahmed was officially unveiled as the running mate of Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the 2023 general election on Friday, July 8, 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, unveiled Datti Baba-Ahmed as his running mate Friday morning.
