The United States of America, USA Commission for International Religious Freedom has invited presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, PDP, Adewole Adebayo, to attend a stakeholders meeting on religious freedom.<\/b><\/p>\n
The SDP presidential candidate, who has already departed Nigeria for\u00a0Washington, DC for\u00a0the meeting, will also be meeting with Ambassadors, State Department officials, university officials, and the National Black Chamber of Commerce, among others.<\/span><\/p>\n He is also scheduled to attend a national Presidential Prayer Breakfast committee luncheon in Arlington.<\/span><\/p>\n “The United States\u00a0is an important ally to my country,” Adebayo said upon arriving to\u00a0Washington, DC.<\/span><\/p>\n “It is an honour to have this chance to make my case to the American people and seek ways to further build on our international relationship.”<\/span><\/p>\n Adebayo is campaigning on accountability and good governance platform in a country where corruption has historically been a challenge.<\/span><\/p>\n Adebayo’s campaign is the only presidential candidate who has accepted the challenge of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountable Project (SERAP) to declare his assets publicly.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0No other presidential candidate has accepted the challenge.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Adebayo’s presidential candidature has ruffled feathers in the old political order and has become a great excitement of hope in young Nigerians home and abroad.<\/span><\/p>\n Adebayo’s political party, the Social Democratic Party, won the freest and fairest presidential election since democracy icon MKO Abiola won in 1993.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Adebayo’s campaign has been met with hope and optimism by voters, as exemplified by Adebayo’s wide-margin victory in the race for the SDP nomination and significant positive coverage by Nigerian media.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0The U.S. and\u00a0Nigeria\u00a0share close bonds with\u00a0Nigeria\u00a0counted as one of the U.S.’s most important partners in\u00a0Africa.<\/span><\/p>\n The U.S. is a principal foreign investor in\u00a0Nigeria\u00a0and two-way trade in goods and services typically exceeds\u00a0$10 billion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Additionally, over a million Nigerians and Nigerian-Americans live, study, and work in the U.S.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “We have much to learn from each other and I am determined that, under an Adebayo presidency, we in\u00a0Abuja\u00a0will work with\u00a0Washington\u00a0for heightened mutual benefit,” Adebayo said.<\/span><\/p>\n Adebayo’s own relationship with the U.S. is extensive having studied law in the U.S. and now licensed to practice in\u00a0California,\u00a0New York\u00a0and has been involved extensively in litigation and arbitration cases in\u00a0Australia, UK,\u00a0Singapore, and other jurisdictions.<\/span><\/p>\n He is currently Chairman of U.S.-based Blueprint Global Group and Board Advisor to the National Black Chamber of Commerce.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0He is also the Chairman of Sai Phytochemicals which produces drugs for treatment of sickle cell anaemia in\u00a0India\u00a0and\u00a0Nigeria.<\/span><\/p>\n As the Chairman of Africa Dialogue Mission, he was appointed by the United Nations as commissioner on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission for\u00a0Liberia\u00a0in 2006.<\/span><\/p>\n He later founded KAFTAN TV which provides news to over six million homes in 20 countries and for which he was awarded Best Media Proprietor of the Year by the Nigerian Union of Journalists.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n He has sponsored the education of thousands of youths from all over\u00a0Nigeria\u00a0and\u00a0Africa.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" \u2022From right is pastor Ituah Ighodalo, Prince Adewole Adebayo, members of the commission for International Religious Freedom and Salewa Ladipo, shortly after the SDP presidential candidate session with the group.
