Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, yesterday said the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential flag bearer was deserving.<\/p>\n
Bakare, who contested in the primary but go no votes, spoke while addressing his congregation in Lagos.<\/span><\/p>\n In his address titled \u201cA new Nigeria is still possible,\u201d the cleric said he remained committed to a new Nigeria.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI congratulate the winner of the APC presidential primaries, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on his victory.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cHis emergence as the flagbearer and presidential candidate of the APC is a testament to his significant contributions to the course of the Southwest as well as his labour towards the formation and establishment of the APC as I have said in times past.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI, therefore, extend best wishes to him as he proceeds on the campaign trail towards the 2023 general elections,\u201d the cleric said.<\/span><\/p>\n Bakare said that he remained convinced now more than ever that the quest to serve his beloved country had been a worthy adventure.<\/span><\/p>\n Bakare said: \u201cOur heads remain unbowed because we did not compromise on the values that are integral to building a New Nigeria.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cFor us, the means has always been as important as the end. This is why we confidently wear our \u2018zero votes\u2019 as a badge of \u2018zero tolerance for a certain kind of politics\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThere is still a cause and there is still a nation to transform. This is not the work of just one man or woman or just one party, but the calling upon every Nigerian worthy of the name.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt is my earnest prayer that the good Lord will bless Nigeria with leaders not in love with money but in love with justice.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u2018APC members must close ranks for Tinubu\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n Also yesterday, an APC stalwart in Oyo State, Oyedele Hakeem Alao, urged members nationwide to close ranks and work for the victory of the party\u2019s presidential flag bearer Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.<\/span><\/p>\n Alao, an engineer who contested in the party\u2019s governorship primary, congratulated Tinubu on his victory, saying it was a result of his tenacity and signposts of a victory for the country and citizens.<\/span><\/p>\n According to him, the overwhelming votes by the delegates showed Tinubu\u2019s acceptability by members of the party.<\/span><\/p>\n He believes the former Lagos State governor can provide the needed leadership that would consolidate the democratic gains and move the country forward.<\/span><\/p>\n Alao praised President Muhammadu Buhari for providing an enabling environment for a credible primary and is optimistic that the APC would defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with Tinubu as the presidential candidate.<\/span><\/p>\n He said: \u201cAs a unifying factor who is best suited to bring Nigeria together rather than divide it, Asiwaju Tinubu will replicate the success he recorded in Lagos State as governor in every part of Nigeria.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cHis victory is nothing but hope for the generality of Nigerians, a balm to heal our wounds and a future secured for the country.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Alao promised to work tenaciously for the success of the party in the forthcoming elections.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare, yesterday said the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential flag bearer was deserving.
