Presidential hopeful, Atiku Abubakar, has distanced himself from a tweet condemning the lynching of Deborah Samuel, a Christian 200-level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education Sokoto, who was killed for allegedly blaspheming Prophet Muhammad.<\/p>\n

Atiku, who is running for President on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, had taken to Twitter to condemn the mob action, saying, \u201cThere cannot be a justification for such gruesome murder. <\/span><\/p>\n

Deborah Yakubu was murdered and all those behind her death must be brought to justice. My condolences to her family and friends.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The former Vice-President, however, came under threats from some Muslim northerners who threatened not to vote for him if he emerges as the Presidential candidate of the PDP.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, Atiku later deleted the tweet amid the threats.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Facebook, the former Vice President in a message on his verified Hausa page distanced himself from the message. <\/span><\/p>\n

He also stated that any message on social media that did not come with the initials \u201cA. A.\u201d were not his.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis evening I received information that a post was made that doesn\u2019t agree with my orders. I use this to announce that any post without A. A. is not from me. May God protect us,\u201d he wrote in Hausa language.<\/span><\/p>\n
