{"id":791,"date":"2017-12-20T18:23:03","date_gmt":"2017-12-20T18:23:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madhousenaija.com\/?p=791"},"modified":"2017-12-20T18:23:03","modified_gmt":"2017-12-20T18:23:03","slug":"senate-blasts-efcc-arresting-innoson-boss-orders-probe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=791","title":{"rendered":"Senate Blasts EFCC For Arresting Innoson Boss, Orders Probe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>The Senate on Wednesday criticised the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for arresting the Chairman\/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Innoson Motors, Innocent Chukwuma.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The lawmakers accused the EFCC of\u00a0using military approach and therefore mandated the Senate Committee on Financial Crimes and Anti-Corruption to investigate their actions.<\/p>\n<p>The committee is expected to report back to the chamber on Thursday, December 21.<\/p>\n<p>Chukwuma was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelstv.com\/2017\/12\/19\/efcc-arrests-innoson-ceo-chukwuma\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">arrested<\/a>\u00a0on Tuesday by EFCC officials after he allegedly failed to honour a prior invitation. Innoson Group however\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelstv.com\/2017\/12\/20\/innoson-disagrees-efcc-ceos-arrest\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">disagreed<\/a>\u00a0with the EFCC on Wednesday, describing this claim\u00a0as false.<\/p>\n<p>During the plenary on Wednesday, the lawmakers took turn to criticise EFCC\u2019s actions as Senator Monsurat Sunmonu in an additional prayer which was seconded by Senator Oluremi Tinubu said that the Committee on Women Affairs should investigate the alleged assault on Chwukuma\u2019s wife by EFCC operatives.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Emmanuel Bwacha in his comments said if, truly, Chukwuma\u2019s wife was slapped by an operative of the EFCC as Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe claimed to have been told, \u201csomeone must be held to account; he must lose his job and he must be prosecuted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu also at the plenary raised a point of order to criticise EFCC for the arrest.
