{"id":7821,"date":"2022-05-07T11:00:53","date_gmt":"2022-05-07T11:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=7821"},"modified":"2022-05-07T11:00:53","modified_gmt":"2022-05-07T11:00:53","slug":"efcc-monitoring-funds-used-in-buying-political-party-forms-unscrupulous-elements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=7821","title":{"rendered":"EFCC Monitoring Funds Used In Buying Political Party Forms, Unscrupulous Elements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has said that it is monitoring the source of the funds used in purchasing political party forms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, said this on Channels Television\u2019s Politics Today programme on Friday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Ruling All Progressives Congress had pegged its presidential forms at N100m while the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party sold its form for N41m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As at last count, 20 people have obtained the APC forms while at least 17 people purchased the forms of the PDP.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Bawa said the EFCC was working with the Independent National Electoral Commission to establish the source of these funds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He noted that N100m was a lot of money as most people would not see it in their lifetime.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">According to him,\u201dWell, of course, it is quite some money. It could take a lifetime for you to save N40m or N100m but as you know, when it comes to the issue of monitoring of election funds and candidates\u2019 funds, it is mainly the work of INEC but we are working hand-in-hand with INEC and other related agencies to ensure that we follow the money and know the source, whether it is legitimate or illegitimate. That is our concern.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He also said the commission was working to ensure that corrupt persons do not attain positions of leadership in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The EFCC boss said the anti-graft agency was already working behind the scenes to expose these unscrupulous elements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cAbove all, we are concerned about good governance, transparency and accountability.
