{"id":7145,"date":"2022-04-17T14:06:38","date_gmt":"2022-04-17T14:06:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=7145"},"modified":"2022-04-17T14:06:38","modified_gmt":"2022-04-17T14:06:38","slug":"atiku-suspicious-of-saraki-tambuwal-others-over-trickish-consensus-moves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=7145","title":{"rendered":"Atiku Suspicious Of Saraki, Tambuwal, Others Over Trickish Consensus Moves"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is said to be suspicious of the motives of the advocates of a consensus\u00a0presidential candidate in the Peoples Democratic Party, who allegedly\u00a0failed to update him on the concept after their initial visit to sell the idea to him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It was gathered that Atiku is opposed to the plan because of what a source described as its \u2018trickish nature\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In the vanguard of the consensus option in PDP are former President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki; Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal; Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed; and a former bank chief, Mohammed Hayatudeen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cSince Saraki, Tambuwal, Bala and Hayatudeen mooted the idea, they have not been carrying Atiku along. The camp of the ex-Vice President is suspicious of these proponents of consensus,\u201d a source familiar with the development said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cWith Atiku out of the consensus politics, all the PDP 17 aspirants would have to slug it out at the primaries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cEven Saraki, Tambuwal and Bala are not on the same page on consensus. Apart\u00a0from the fact that they believe they can go it alone individually, there is mistrust in each other.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cTambuwal is still uncomfortable with Saraki over how he depleted his votes in the last presidential primaries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cTambuwal had banked on the support of Saraki until the former Senate President joined the race.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cOf the 17 presidential aspirants in PDP, only four have been very strong on consensus without the buy in of 13 others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cAnd it is obvious that Atiku and Governor Nyesom Wike prefer slugging it out at the convention.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cSo, as far as PDP is concerned, consensus is dead on arrival,\u201d the source said.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is said to be suspicious of the motives of the advocates of a consensus\u00a0presidential candidate in the Peoples Democratic Party, who allegedly\u00a0failed to update him on the concept after their initial visit to sell the idea to him.
