As the country has entered the season of declaration of intention and aspiration to contest for one office or the other, some human rights activists and pro-democracy advocates, who spoke with our correspondent were unanimous in saying that, the only person being expected to break his silence is the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll eyes are on him. People are waiting with bated breath to hear Sanwo-Olu talk publicly on what we have all known. People just want to hear directly from the horse\u2019s mouth before jumping to the street to celebrate. That will signal the commencement of the real work of mobilization and sensitization of the public to garner support for him,\u201d Comrade Omolola Olukayode of the Movement for a Better Lagos submitted.<\/p>\n
Speaking in the same vein, Comrade Omobanke Razak, of Labour & Workers Welfare Advocacy Centre said, it is no more a secret that one way or the other, \u201cSanwo-Olu will declare and can assure you that the day of his declaration would be colourful so much that aspirants on the platform of other political parties would be green with envy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n According to him, members of his organization would made the day a memorable one that would scare other would be contestants will consider withdrawing from the race because, \u201cours will represent the views and belief of all the residents that, at last the huge masquerade has eventually taken over the centre stage.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Corroborating Omobanke\u2019s submission is another public commentator and political watcher, Comrade JamesAdeyemi of the Black Youth Vanguard, who added that, \u201ctruly, Sanwo-Olu\u2019s declaration will be the grandfather of all aspiration in the recent time because it would be so celebrated that outsiders would mistake it for celebration of victory of the real election.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Convener, Congress of Progressive Youth, Adebayo Oyenekan is of the conviction that, nobody is no more left in doubt that, \u201cSanwo-Olu\u2019s winning team would not be changed by the leadership of his party,\u201d appealing to his party\u2019s leadership not to make the mistake of trying to play funny with the party primaries.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n With the hand writing clearly on the wall, another activist, Prince Dare Aladekoba of the Coalition Against Corruption asserted that, \u201cSanwo-Olu\u2019s case has gone beyond the issue of political parties,\u201d saying, the issue at hand transcend either APC, PDP, SDP or PRP, but it is based on the welfare of the generality of the good people of Lagos and beyond which is the hallmark of democracy.<\/span><\/p>\n He therefore stressed the need for the people to maximise support for the governor to encourage him to do more just as he also cautioned the governor never to toy with the idea of backing out, warning that, \u201cnobody will take it from him.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" As the country has entered the season of declaration of intention and aspiration to contest for one office or the other, some human rights activists and pro-democracy advocates, who spoke with our correspondent were unanimous in saying that, the only person being expected to break his silence is the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
